Join Open Tinkering at Rediscover Center!
Enjoy up to three hours of shop time with full access to Rediscover’s tools and creative reuse materials! Work on a crafting or woodworking project of your choice with guidance from our knowledgeable Facilitators. Use hand tools independently and operate stationary power tools with direct supervision. Open Tinkering is a lightly supervised session designed for independent tinkerers and makers.

Sundays • 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Venice or Mid City Locations - $30 per session
Prerequisite required:
Successful completion of Tool Training Workshop or full week Tinkering Camp within the past 12 months, or permission of the Facilitator
Creative Reuse Materials
Participants have access to a wide variety of creative reuse materials, including beads, buttons, and full sheets of plywood.
- The first 5 pounds of materials are included in the session price.
- Additional materials are $1 per pound or may be returned to our supply collection.
- No on-site storage is available for unfinished projects between sessions.
- All participants must wear closed-toe shoes, tie back loose hair, and use safety equipment properly.
Available Materials
Safety gear is provided, including goggles, gloves, and ear protection. Tools available include:
- Measuring & Clamping: Measuring tools, clamps, vises
- Hand Tools: Hammers, chisels, screwdrivers, pliers, snips, hand saws
- Power Tools: Cordless drills, jigsaw, scroll saw, drill press, orbital sander
- Stationary Tools: 10" DeWalt chop saw, 14" Jet band saw
